Gen.G to field Heretics' Alx at Mid-Season Finals after Salvation visa denial

Gen.G Esports will go into the Marvel Rivals Ignite 2026 Mid-Season Finals without starting Strategist ChinaSalvation after the player's US visa application was denied ahead of the event in Los Angeles, MRVL.net understands. Team Heretics Strategist BulgariaAlx is expected to stand in.

ChinaSalvation — Zhu Xiaoyu — is one of two Chinese players on an otherwise Australian and New Zealand roster, and he has been part of the Gen.G Esports core that came through Stage 1 in the Pacific undefeated. Losing a starting Strategist days before a LAN is difficult in any circumstance. Losing one to paperwork, with no route to appeal inside the window, leaves the org with only the emergency options.

The stand-in is a notable one. BulgariaAlx is a 27-year-old Bulgarian Strategist, real name Aleks Suchev, who joined Team Heretics in February and played the full EMEA Stage 1 season with them. Team Heretics did not qualify for the Mid-Season Finals, which is what makes him available at all. He is a Luna Snow and Cloak & Dagger player first, with Invisible Woman as his third pick, and has previously played for Citadel Gaming and OG at EMEA level. Pulling a starter off another region's active roster is not something teams do casually, and it suggests Gen.G Esports looked at the free agent pool and did not like what was there.

The timing is about as bad as it gets. Gen.G Esports open the Main Stage against Virtus.pro on July 30, a best-of-three against the defending world champions, and they will play it with a Strategist who has never played a competitive map with the other five. Whatever Stage 1 form said about this Gen.G Esports team, the version that walks into WePlay Studios is not the version that earned the seed.

Gen.G Esports have not commented publicly and no official roster change has been posted. The Mid-Season Finals run July 29 to August 1.
